French brasserie La Ville Lumiere has opened on Clifton Boulevard in Cleveland.
opened in late September. Chef/owner Kevin O’Connell completely renovated and reinvented the space left vacant in 2021 by the Clifton Martini & Wine Bar.
O’Connell, who has been in the restaurant business for 30 years, has been operating culinary businesses in Cleveland for three years as he planned his full-service debut in the city. He started both the Cleveland Sandwich Co. and the Cleveland Supper Club. Both are now closed so he can focus on the current venture.Cleveland Comedy Festival runs Nov. 6-9
As his lease expired on the Cleveland Sandwich Co. space, the Wilshire Building at 10427 Clifton Boulevard became available. Perhaps it was kismet. The experience, says O’Connell, starts with quality food. The kitchen staff cuts meat and handcrafts breads and pastries. The wine list is curated by O’Connell and is 90 percent French. Those who want wow and can financially support it may want to ask for the Captain’s List. It contains selections from a private cellar that O’Connell recently acquired.
The plan is to provide people a place to dine after games, theater and other late-lasting entertainment, says O’Connell.
