Jazz star Lauri Markkanen weighed in on the end of trade rumors surrounding him after signing an extension with Utah.
Utah Jazz star big man Lauri Markkanen had been the talk of the NBA world for most of the offseason. Many expected him to be traded out of Utah before he became eligible to sign a massive extension with the Jazz.The Golden State Warriors were the main team connected to Markkanen all offseason and they pushed hard to land him. However, Utah had a fairly steep asking price for the All-Star, and the two sides never could come to terms on a fair agreement.
'It's a weight off my shoulders and I can focus only one the main thing now: playing basketball at a high level,' Markkanen told ESPN. 'I don't stress about it, but you can't pretend you don't hear that stuff. It's a good feeling knowing that I'm going to be in Utah.'Since joining the Jazz in 2022, as a piece that went back to Utah in the Donovan Mitchell trade, Markkanen has improved his game each season.
