James Gunn has revealed who his new favorite character in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is. The special will follow the Guardians of the Galaxy traveling to Earth to find the best present for Peter Quill , who is still grief-stricken after losing Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War. The special marks Marvel Studios' second "Special Presentation," after the release of Michael Giacchino's Werewolf by Night in October.

The special is set in between the events of Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It will also introduce one of Gunn's personal favorite characters to the MCU.

Quill models himself after Bacon's character in Footloose, which he thinks is the greatest movie in history, though Spider-Man begs to differ. Bacon has been the basis of many great jokes throughout the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and now those jokes reach a new level with the upcoming Holiday Special.
From the looks of the newly-released Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special trailer, Drax and Mantis want to kidnap Bacon in the hopes that he will act as the ultimate Christmas present for Peter Quill.
