There's one less thing to buy on Thanksgiving day in Indianapolis this year: bus fare.
On Thanksgiving day, these routes follow their Sunday hours, which typically span from about 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., depending on the route. On New Year's Eve, rides are free from 8 p.m. until the end of each route's normal Saturday schedule, which varies by route."This helps remove any barriers of transportation for those individuals who want to spend time with their families," senior director of mobility solutions Michael Roth told directors Thursday.
The initiative costs IndyGo about $10,000 for all three days, which tend to have the lowest ridership across the network, he said.
