AWS is improving cybersecurity with MadPot—a system engineered for the scale of today's threat landscape and designed to protect the AWS cloud and its customers.
Cybersecurity threats continue to evolve at mind-numbing pace. Organizations are typically playing defense and reacting to the threat du jour—constantly seeking innovative ways to protect their digital assets. Amazon Web Services is in a unique position to help customers address these challenges. AWS recently unveiled MadPot—a threat intelligence honeypot project the company has been using for years.
“It’s an interesting approach to threat detection, taking the concept of honeypots and extending it across a cloud provider’s environment,” shared, research director for information security at 451 Research. “The scale of this effort is likely assumable given the scale of AWS – but its responsiveness is also noteworthy, particularly given that scale.
We traced back and worked with external parties to dismantle the sources of 230k L7/HTTP DDoS attacks., director of the Office of the CISO at AWS, for his insights into MadPot's functionality and its role in enhancing cybersecurity. He emphasized that there are two primary levels at which MadPot's threat intelligence is applied. The first is at the AWS platform level.
