Eman Naghavi, a 12-year coaching veteran who was a team captain on Katy’s 2003 state championship team, has been hired as the University of Houston’s co-offensive coordinator/run game coordinator and offensive line coach, the school announced Saturday.
Naghavi spent last season as the offensive line coach at Tulane, which won the American Athletic Conference and beat Southern California in the Cotton Bowl. Tulane was fifth nationally in offensive penalties, No. 12 in rushing touchdowns and No. 19 in scoring offense. “We’re excited to add Coach Naghavi to our staff and welcome him and his family to the University of Houston,” coach Dana Holgorsen said. “He has a tremendous knowledge of the game from more than 10 years of experience. He’s a Houston-area guy and former team captain and state champion at Katy High School who has been successful everywhere he’s been. When you look at what Tulane did offensively up front last year, they were extremely disciplined and effective.
Prior to Tulane, Naghavi spent the 2021 season at Georgia State and three seasons at Louisiana Monroe. He spent two different stints at his alma mater McNeese State, first coaching offensive tackles and tight ends and offensive line and recruiting coordinator .As a player, Naghavi was a three-time All-Southland offensive lineman, including 2008 when he was a FCS All-American selection.
