An hours-long standoff continues in Colleyville, Texas, where a man took several hostages at a local synagogue. One hostage has been released uninjured so far.

Law-enforcement officials in Colleyville, Texas, were working through a hostage situation Saturday evening at a local synagogue involving a man holding several people inside. The situation, which began Saturday morning during services, showed signs of progress Saturday afternoon when a male hostage was released uninjured, according to a statement from the Colleyville Police Department.

As of Saturday evening, Federal Bureau of Investigation crisis negotiators continued to be in contact with the man, according to the statement. The man was claiming to be the brother of a Pakistani woman convicted in 2010 of trying to kill U.S. Army soldiers, according to a law-enforcement official. The man was demanding that the woman, Aafia Siddiqui, be released from prison, the official said.The official said law enforcement hadn’t confirmed whether the man is Ms. Siddiqui’s brother. Law enforcement hasn’t yet said if the man is armed.in a Fort Worth federal prison for the attempted killing of FBI agents and soldiers at an Afghan police compound in 2008. In a statement issued Saturday evening, the Colleyville Police Department said there were no reported injuries inside the synagogue, Congregation Beth Israel.
