Wanlass, who was an assistant coach for the high school at the time, started having a Snapchat conversation with a 17-year-old female student during the fall of 2021, according to a probable cause statement from police. He is accused of sending her explicit pictures on the app, which police say they located on the girl’s account.
The girl later told police that Wanlass also assaulted her in the school’s equipment room. She said the coach kissed her, before pulling down his pants and making her touch him, according to the police statement.An assistant principal at the school was told at that time by other students who reported the coach was acting inappropriately with a student.
