Westfield mall in Escondido has new owners and a new name — North County Mall
Escondido’s Westfield mall has been sold to a California partnership that hopes to reinvigorate the nearly 40-year-old center with new shops, dining options and entertainment venues.
While the shopping center will be known for now as North County Mall, Okoroji said the plan is to eventually re-brand the center later this year after taking into consideration feedback from local stakeholders. “For several years, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield was working on selling their U.S. assets so they weren’t investing additional resources in this property,” Schoeneck said. “So I think this signals a new chapter for the mall.”
Bridge and Steerpoint have brought on Spinoso Real Estate Group to manage the mall and have retained the existing mall manager, Schoeneck said.
