A man in Florida was sentenced to 25 years in state prison for killing a woman and burying her body in his backyard.

Johnny Malisham pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, back on Sept. 20.

According to court documents, Malisham killed Cynthia Hoover by striking her on the head with a hatchet on March 8, 2021. Then, he buried her in his backyard. Hoover was reported missing and Malisham was arrested on May 9. He'll get credit for 862 days served since then. Malisham had pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge in Alabama in 1986. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison there but served only six.
