Exclusive: Inside Home Run Dugout, Katy's new entertainment venue where Top Golf meets baseball
The tech-heavy 46,000-square-foot venue will feature 12 batting bays, a full-service restaurant and two bars, said Colby Smith, general manager.“The whole goal was to find a way to socialize baseball and make it more accessible and entertaining for people who aren’t necessarily baseball lovers,” Smith said. “We wanted to try to find a way kind of like Top Golf to make it less intimidating and make it to where it can be a social experience.
The stadiums in the gameplay can be customized to any stadium in the country, Smith added. “You can set it to where you’re playing at Fenway or Minute Maid Park or Wrigley Field- whatever you want,” he said.While the main focus of Home Run Dugout is the batting bays, Jason Borchik, vice president of business development believes that the venue will be a popular destination for socializing and dining, even without gameplay.
Home Run Dugout carries a baseball theme throughout the venue. The walls are adorned with the jersey numbers for famous players. Custom cocktails will have baseball centric names, and the food is “inspired by ballparks,” Smith said.
