La astronauta Ellen Ochoa, graduada de la Universidad Estatal de San Diego y que se convirtió en la primera latina en volar al espacio, recibió la Medalla Presidencial de la Libertad de manos del presidente Biden durante una ceremonia en la Casa Blanca.
Luego obtuvo una maestría y un doctorado en ingeniería en Stanford. Desde temprana edad tuvo un amor por la ciencia, pero no siempre imaginó adónde la llevaría. “Quiero decir, fue el verano justo después de terminar la escuela primaria cuando los astronautas del Apolo 11 aterrizaron en la luna”, dijo Ochoa al San Diego Union-Tribune en 2020.
