Donald Trump has secured another victory in his bid to become Republican nominee for president, this time with the North Dakota caucuses.

Trump won the state handily,, which called the race around 9:20 EST. He also won all 29 of the state’s delegates, taking his total to 276 nationwide, compared to former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s 43 delegates.

Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump points to a reporter for a question as he speaks at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Monday, March 4, 2024. reportedlyGov. Doug Burgum , a former presidential candidate who dropped out to endorse Trump, is expected to speak on Trump’s behalf virtually.

The results of the primary came as little surprise — Trump was widely expected to win by a large margin, as he did in almost every other contest so far. Haley won her first primary victory in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, winning all 19 delegates. However, she still needs a massive showing on Super Tuesday to give Trump a real battle in the race to be the Republican presidential nominee.

The North Dakota caucuses are a prelude to the most important primary contest, Super Tuesday, during which 865 delegates are up for grabs. Trump is expected to win the overwhelming majority of them.
