The Goosebumps franchise has changed its face many times over the years. First, it was a series of children’s horror novels by author R.L. Stine. Then, there was an anthology horror TV show that adapted the books for the small screen.
Ephraim was forced to do Slappy’s bidding, leading him to leave his family behind in favor of fame. Eventually, Ephraim turned the tables on Slappy, trapping him in a wooden crate and burying him behind a wall in his remote hunting lodge home. This is the same home that Harold Biddle and his family moved into decades later, and it is here that the cursed items seen in Goosebumps episodes 1—5 were all uncovered. Slappy used his magic to control Harold the same way that he controlled Ephraim.
