When the San Diego State basketball team woke up Saturday morning in the dart-board center of bourbon territory, they had to wonder if those weighing their Elite Eight fates had indulged in a bit too much of the stuff.to the March Madness sidelines. Still, Vegas oddsmakers insist Creighton is a slight favorite heading into Sunday’s matchup at the KFC Yum! Center to decide a spot in the Final Four.
“We’ll take no opponent lightly. But as far as us, we feel like every team we play, we have an opportunity to show the nation who we are.” San Diego State has won 30 games this season and, according to multiple metrics, played one of the toughest schedules in the country.Beating 12 and 13 seeds in the NCAA Tournament, well, that should be the expectation for a team like the Aztecs. Answering the bell after trailing by nine as the ’Bama-jammed KFC Yum! Center roared with your leading scorer hunting his first point for nearly 37 minutes, though, represents something else entirely.
