The US plans a 'drone hellscape' to delay a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, making it a stronghold as China's military grows.
The US has come up with the strategy of creating a drone hellscape. The goal is to deploy a large number of these systems to deter any potential aggression and provide time for allied forces to respond effectively. The tension between China and Tension does not seem to be easing up anytime soon, and this has alerted the United States. The military planners in Washington are preparing for a Warzone in the Taiwan Strait.
“Unmanned systems provide low-cost, disposable mass. If a drone is shot down, the only ones grieving about it are the accountants,” said Zachary Kallenborn, a policy fellow at George Mason University. “You may utilize them on a wide scale to overwhelm and damage your opponents’ defensive capabilities.”
Some of the US defense analysts have also suggested other ideas. They recommend to adopt what they call a “porcupine strategy,” which essentially means to layer their defenses in such a way to inflict heavy losses on an invading force.to compete with China. The goal is to rapidly increase the number of drones available for deployment, ensuring the US can maintain a technological edge in this critical area.
Taiwan’s defense strategy is evolving to incorporate the use of drone swarms. Swarm drones can confuse and overwhelm anti-aircraft systems, and they do this by attacking from multiple directions at the same time. The US is also developing miniature drones, known as Perdix drones, which can be used in swarm operations to disrupt enemy radar systems.Taiwan has a rugged history, and geography presents a challenging task for drone operations.
