Buffy Sets Up Spike Becoming A Villain Again - And This Time More Powerful Than Ever Before

The ending of the 2023 Audible series Slayers: A Buffyverse Story might have set up Spike’s return to his previous villainous tendencies.

The Audible series, which debuted on October 12, 2023, featured the return of a handful of the original characters from the series, including Spike, Cordelia Chase, Rupert Giles, Drusilla, Anya Jenkins, Tara Maclay, Clem, and Jonathan Levinson.

Spike Wants To Become King Of The Vampires In Buffy's Alternate Reality Story By the end of the nine-part audio series, Spike realized his new dream was to become the King of the Vampires in the alternate universe that did not contain Buffy as a Slayer. At the beginning of Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, Spike was deep undercover in Los Angeles trying to convince other evil forces that he was just like them, when, in reality, his moral compass was a little more complicated than that .

Cordelia sought Spike's help to face off against Drusilla, who was attempting to become the Queen of the Vampires in the other universe. Spike, along with Clem, Giles, and Indira, traveled to the alternate reality, and Giles was the only one to return home at the end of Slayers: A Buffyverse Story. Spike stayed behind to pursue the title of the King of the Vampires, and he claimed it was in the name of defeating Drusilla, but his true intentions were left ambiguous.

Is Spike Becoming A Villain Again? As the King of the Vampires, Spike would come into more power than he ever had before, which is a tempting incentive to become a villain again following his redemption arc in the WB supernatural drama series. Spike claimed that his intentions in the alternate reality were pure at the end of Slayers: A Buffyverse Story. However, knowing Spike and how his story began in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it would not be surprising if he went down a dark path again.
