Louisville, Ohio -An elderly couple in Louisville, Ohio, became victims of a sprawling bail bondsman scam, losing $5,500 in a heartless scheme.“Elderly people are not up on technology, and they take people at their word,” Clark said.
Police say the couple, in their late 70s, were approached by 49-year-old Mikhail Vygodner, who allegedly impersonated a bail bondsman.“Said that their loved one was going to be arrested, and they needed bail money,” Clark recalled.Clark, undeterred by limited resources, used a combination of technology and traditional detective work to track down Vygodner.Working with New Jersey police, Clark secured Vygodner’s extradition.“He actually lawyered up when we started talking to him,” Clark said.
Clark believes Vygodner didn’t act alone. “We’re still looking into how he got his information and who he was working with”.This case serves as a stark reminder: always verify any requests for money, particularly those involving loved ones in trouble.Copyright 2024 WOIO. All rights reserved.
