In Arrival, the concept of a non-zero-sum game is first brought up in an apparent flashback or dream sequence that Louise has involving her young daughter, Hannah. As Louise is occupied with her work one night at her home, Hannah approaches her to ask about the proper terminology for a deal that is made between two people in which both parties get something out of it.
