This article contains spoilers for Alien Annual 2023 #1 Alien’s all-new Xenomorph variant, the white Xenomorph, will soon prove its mettle in the upcoming Alien Annual #1, as this subspecies will go head-to-head against the classic Xenomorphs in a manner similar to the fan-favorite intraspecies conflict shown in Aliens: Genocide.
The first white Xenomorph to ever grace the pages of an Alien comic was presented in Aliens vs Predator: The Deadliest of the Species by Chris Claremont and Jackson Guice. That book chronicled the rise of the White Hybrid, which was actually more than simply a discolored Xenomorph, but rather a deliberate hybridization of Xenomorph, human, and Predator into one super-being.
The New White Xenomorphs Could Finally Beat The Classic Alien In Alien Vol. 3 by Declan Shalvey and Andrea Broccardo, a team of human scientists are working on the icy world of LV-695 when they come across something peculiar: a white Facehugger. When the finding is reported to Weyland-Yutani, representatives from the company arrive to claim the specimen, only for one of them to get attacked and subsequently impregnated by the Facehugger.
If it is revealed that this new white Xenomorph is somehow far more intelligent than the classic alien - like the White Hybrid and Elden before it - then Alien Annual #1 could mean the end of the original Xenomorph forever. Again, that book sounds like it will be something of a retelling of the fan-favorite Aliens: Genocide, which showed a civil war between black and red Xenomorphs on Xenomorph Prime.
From the White Hybrid in Aliens vs Predator: The Deadliest of the Species to Elden in the Fire and Stone crossover, white Xenomorphs are always depicted smarter than the original. If this is something that proves to hold true in Alien Annual #1 with the new white Xenomorph, then this trend will not only be repeating history, but could also reshape the future of the Alien franchise itself.
