Your economy is easy to get rolling and requires far less babysitting than in, and your soldiers are generally smart enough to behave themselves and make reasonably intelligent decisions. New and returning victory conditions, including the elimination of key enemy buildings and the control of sacred sites on the map, encourage knockout blows rather than lengthy slogs.

I loved AOE 2 when I was younger. Now I'm playing the Definitive Edition. I also loved Warcraft 2 and 3, it'd be nice if Blizzard released Warcraft 4 instead of another WOW expansion Maybe I'll get AOE IV when it gets an expansion and more civilizations.

I was able to witness my 19, 16, and 13 year old sons organically get into AOE II during the pandemic and it was such a great mom moment & blast from my past!
