Shooting happened during repast for 19-year-old woman killed in Chicago shooting earlier this month
Three people were shot and injured Friday in the parking lot of The Salvation Army Blue Island Worship & Community Center church, authorities said..Police are at the scene of a reported shooting at a church Friday afternoon in the south suburbs.
Three people were shot around 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Salvation Army Community Center church in Blue Island, located at 2900 W. 127th St., authorities said.The shooting happened during a repast at the church, near Minnesota and Francisco Avenue. Multiple gunmen pulled up and started shooting, investigators said.Police told ABC7 when the shooting happened, a guest who was at the repast, and had a concealed-carry license, fired back.
ABC7 spoke with the family members of the 19-year-old woman who they just laid to rest Friday, and were there for her repast. Relatives said Princess Bell was shot and killed on June 3 near 96th and Green in Chicago's Washington Heights neighborhood. Police said an 18-year-old man was also killed in that shooting.
Bell's grandparents told ABC7 Friday's shooting was connected to gang activity and people who were not their relatives.Police continue to investigate and are looking into surveillance video. No one is in custody.Copyright © 2024 WLS-TV. All Rights Reserved.
