One person is dead and others are injured after an overnight shooting on campus, Tuskegee University is confirming.
Details are limited, but university officials confirmed the death of one victim, who has been identified only as a “non-university individual.” That victim’s family has been notified, the university said.
Officials said the scene is secured and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigations is conducting an active investigation. ALEA tells WSFA 12 News it is gathering information. The private university, located in Macon County, approximately 40 miles from Alabama’s capital city, celebrated its homecoming on Saturday night. It’s not yet clear if the early Sunday morning shooting was connected to those celebrations.
