The fire broke out near the A596 resulting in a warning to residents in Woodside Park, Station Hill and near Wigton Hospital
Residents have been forced to close their windows after emergency services rushed to tackle a large blaze at an industrial building last night.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and Cumbria Police were called to the incident near the A596 at Wigton. The fire sent plumes of smoke into the air and led to the authorities urging those who live in the Woodside Park and Station Hill areas and near Wigton Hospital to keep their windows closed. The blaze was first reported at around 9.30pm on Monday evening . Firefighters battled the flames into the late night last night and motorists have been warned of partial or full road closures in the area.In a statement, the force said: "Cumbria Police are currently assisting Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service as firefighters deal with an industrial building fire near the A596 at Wigton.
