The Hyperia rollercoaster at Thorpe Park in Surrey is billed as the 'tallest and fastest' in the UK.
Adrenaline junkies have been left stranded at the top of the UK's "fastest and tallest" rollercoaster. Thorpe Park's Hyperia was unveiled last month but had to shut down less than 24 hours later due to "unforeseen circumstances".
One visitor said: "A guy went up with a harness, spoke to them and came back down. They've now closed the ride. They have evacuated the whole ride area." Last month, thousands flocked to the theme park to celebrate the launch of the new rollercoaster. However, less than 24 hours later, the park announced "due to unforeseen circumstances", Hyperia would be closed until at least May 29.
