Twycross Zoo, which is less than an hour's drive away from Nottingham, unveiled its new and improved The Gruffalo Discovery Land on Wednesday, May 29
A Midlands zoo has unveiled its improved Gruffalo Discovery Land devoted to the beloved children's book monster. Twycross Zoo, which is less than an hour's drive from Nottingham, unveiled its new and improved The Gruffalo Discovery Land on Wednesday, May 29.
The family-friendly attraction, which is based on Julia Donaldson's popular children's book creature, has reopened just in time for half-term and ahead of the summer holidays. The four-acre land brings together the characters from the best-selling book with the animals that inspired the Gruffalo character.
Zoo officials explained its recently completed redevelopment meant visitors could now step into the story of the Gruffalo through three brand-new activity zones which have been designed with children in mind to create an enhanced educational and sensory experience. There is also a new Gruffalo Ranger Training activity, new live entertainment, improved pathways and refreshed landscaping.
Entry to The Gruffalo Discovery Land is included in the price of admission to the zoo, so those travelling from Nottinghamshire can also enjoy the 100 acres of space that are home to more than 70 species of animals if they plan a visit. Twycross Zoo is now offering a new annual ticket, which allows visitors to pay for a day and visit free for 12 months.
