Clark on Netflix – Where's 'Stockholm Syndrome' bank robber Clark Olofsson now?
While you may not know his name, Clark Olofsson's legacy and notoriety is actually so prominent in modern parlance that his behaviour during a particular bank robbery coined the now often-used term, 'Stockholm Syndrome'.
Born in Trollhättan, Sweden, in February 1947, Clark was born to a troubled family, with two younger sisters. His father left the family when Clark was 11, and he and his sisters ended up in foster care when Clark's mother was admitted into psychiatric care. However, Clark was back by the end of the year after one of his fellow escapees, Gunnar Norgren, shot and killed a police officer as they attempted to steal from a bike shop. He evaded capture for two weeks, before he was tracked down to a countryside location with his then-girlfriend. The tussle that followed resulted in another police officer getting shot.
Seeing as he had four hostages held within the bank's vault, the police obliged him, and together, Jan-Erik and Clark held up the bank for six days. This content is imported from YouTube.
