The Met Office has warned that the storm will pose a 'danger to life' in certain areas, urging people to stay safe.
Storm Babet is set to begin sweeping over Scotland today, bringing "exceptionally heavy" rainfall and strong gusts of wind for this country and several other parts of the UK.
Angus and Aberdeenshire are covered by the red alert, which lasts from 6pm today until 12pm tomorrow. The Met Office has created a map for the UK that shows how much rainfall the country will experience during the course of the storm. Separate amber warnings for rain have been issued for areas of central, Tayside & Fife as well as the Highlands, with yellow warnings in place for most other parts of the country until 6am on Saturday.
