River Plate legend Marcelo Gallardo's statue mocked for very prominent feature
A statue of River Plate legend Marcelo Gallardo went viral on social media, but not in the way the intended.
The 26ft statue of Gallardo was erected outside their stadium and shows the Argentine with the Copa Libertadores trophy.He was manager of River Plate from 2014 to 2022, winning the Primera Division in 2021. Gallardo also won the Copa Libertadores, South America's equivalent to the Champions League, in 2015 and 2018.As a player, he won six league titles for River Plate between 1993 and 2003.
