Giving teenagers mindfulness lessons at school to boost wellbeing has been found to be a waste of time

Giving teenagers mindfulness lessons at school to boost wellbeing is largely a waste of time, a major UK study has found.

It suggests that even though mindfulness may still help some pupils, offering it universally at schools is doomed to fail. The school pupils were given a course of mindfulness lessons during a school term. They were also asked to continue the technique at home - but very few did. Many of the teachers, meanwhile, said they had found the mindfulness training useful for their own wellbeing.

That’s a shame. It really worked for me, dealing with stress. I found an app method for meditation the easiest way to get into it. I use Headspace.

No shit, telling teenagers to breathe and have a nice warm bath isn't going to magically fix all the stress that schools put onto them through GCSEs and Alevels ect... What would help is a reform in education

School petition calls for students to wear PE kit all day over changing room 'anxiety'Parents and students are calling for a school in Peterborough to let children stay in their PE kit all day amid fears of 'anxiety and vulnerability' about teenagers getting changed in front of their peers. My child’s primary school does this already. It’s a good simple idea that works. Public school kids who have CCF (combined cadet force) in their schools get to wear combat fatigues for the whole day on the day of the week they have CCF. I remember I forgot my kit and the P.E teacher made me play mixed basketball in my pants in front of a group of girls. Twenty years later I am thrilled to report the nightmares have stopped and my therapist says I am pretty much fine. These snowflakes made me laugh.
