King Charles III's charity The Prince's Trust has been renamed The King's Trust following his accession to the throne, Buckingham Palace said today ahead of his 75th birthday next week.

As Prince of Wales, Charles set up Prince's Trust; Prince's Foundation and PWCF. But organisations' names have been updated one week before his 75th birthdayThe Prince's Trust has been renamed the King's Trust, Buckingham Palace revealed today - meaning William and Harry are unlikely to take over Charles's charity for now.

Charles once spoke of his hope his two sons William and Harry, now the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex, would take over the Prince's Trust, which he set up with his £7,400 Navy severance pay in 1976. But William is paving his own way as the new heir to the throne, focusing on homelessness and mental health.

He added: 'It is our full intention to continue this vital work under the name of the Prince's Trust and we are proud and delighted that the King is our founder and remains our president.'

There is a great deal more and the Palace have announced a rebrand of his Charitable Fund and his Foundation to reflect his accession to the throne. His work, in areas such as homelessness, the environment and mental health and hers on the importance of understanding the early years of childhood is of considerable importance already.

When Prince of Wales he championed an extraordinary variety of causes at home and abroad. However the structure of the charities is complex. It is a pity that a simple summary of this awesome charitable work, much of which most of the public are almost certainly unaware of, does not appear to be easily available.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told MailOnline: 'King Charles is known nationally and internationally for his splendid work on behalf of his Trust and for his environmental campaigning.

'He has made it clear that he and Catherine will take on fewer patronages, but do more for them and that he sees his work as being the agent of real change. He said that Royal.uk website states that Charles's charities raise over £100million a year - which is 'highly impressive'. 'The name change reflects the King's intention, as announced in the speech he made when he acceded the throne, to ensure that the work which his charities have done 'will go on in the trusted hands of others'.'

'The royal website states that he has established over 20 charities in over 40 years. This is surely a unique feat which deserves our thanks.'
