A special Mayor's birthday party for children with autism and complex needs has also been postponed
Public parks, play parks and pitches are to be closed as a precaution as Storm Ashley approaches, a Northern Ireland council has announced.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for Northern Ireland and large areas of northern Britain, with the more severe amber warning in place in western Scotland including the islands. The council say its recycling centres in Pennyburn, Strathfoyle and Strahan Road will be closed on Sunday. Its outdoor pitches, leisure facilities and courts will also be closed.
The Mayor’s Inclusive Birthday Party on Sunday, originally scheduled for Sunday at the Foyle Arena in the Waterside, aims to allow neurodivergent young people, who sometimes aren’t invited to birthday parties, to be part of the party.
