Epic Games released a new Fortnite season on Friday, and despite being out for only a few hours, the season has already broken a big record.
The new Fortnite season has resulted in another explosion of concurrent players. Despite Season 5 being out for only a few hours, it’s already broken the record for the most concurrent players since the public player counter was released. Considering how amazing the season is, this comes as no surprise. Bringing back the Fortnite OG season has turned out to be the right move for Epic Games.
The previous record was set at the beginning of Chapter 4 – Season 4 with 2.82 million players. However, the OG season has already broken it. In the first few hours of the new Fortnite season, the concurrent player count went all the way up to 3.91 million, a 38.6% increase. Considering that the videogame keeps having more than 2 million concurrent players throughout the day, the record will likely be broken once again. It’s important to note that this is a record for the public player count.
