A day later he was traded to the Red Sox - and is now set to appear for his new team when the fixture resumes on Monday night."But at the end of the day, I want to win a ball game and do everything I can to prepare for it." New signings have come in midway through suspended games previously in MLB, but there has not been a scenario where a player featured against his old side.
Remarkably, Jansen was the player batting at the plate for the Blue Jays when the game was halted two months ago. That means his former side will have to put up another batter in his place, while Jansen, now in the Red Sox's uniform rather than Toronto's, will be the catcher for the hosts at Boston's Fenway Park."Yeah he's catching. Let's make history,” said Red Sox manager Alex Cora, confirming Jansen's appearance.
