A man caught on camera appearing to throw a 'missile' as Erling Haaland celebrated his first goal in the Manchester derby was detained and arrested, the Manchester Evening News can reveal.
After dispatching the spot kick, Haaland ran off and celebrated in front of the Stretford End. “On Sunday 29 October 2023 at around 5pm, officers received reports of a missile being thrown by a man at the Manchester United v Manchester City fixture at Old Trafford Football Stadium," they said in a statement. The man was one of 11 people arrested at the game, the force confirmed. Before the match, GMP issued a warning that they would be 'leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all spectators and the public.'
