Colin Salmon made his debut as George Knight on EastEnders earlier this year, with his wife being part of the reason to join the BBC soap.
Doting husband Colin previously opened up about joining EastEnders and said his wife's health problems were a factor in taking on the soap role. When asked what drew him to the soap at a screening earlier this year, Colin told OK! that it was EastEnders' executive producer Chris Clenshaw. before adding: "My wife's not well so I can't be far from home and so the universe has brought something quite extraordinary and my agent said, I think you should talk to Chris.
Speaking about her illness in 2021, Fiona told Hello: "I'm finding ways to live with it positively. I don't want my illness to define me."
