With undergrowth cleared, entrances have been revealed - most are blocked up, except for one that still has a door in place
A doorway leading to an underground bunker has been uncovered by developers clearing an overgrown site at Cambrose, near Portreath, which was a former WAAF Second World War baseDevelopers have uncovered a hidden doorway to a World War Two bunker while clearing an overgrown site. It is part of a former WW2 base near Portreath in Cornwall.
The site was used for barracks, messes and offices for personnel working at the nearby Portreath airfield during and after the WW2. There has been opposition to the housing plans, with Portreath Climate Action Network saying that any development would destroy a vital nature reserve. But Portreath Parish Council, which owns the land, argues that it is"overgrown scrubland" and perfect for much-needed housing for local people.
