'Grey blending' is the new-gen technique for natural grey hair that you need to know about.
Either way, to keep things look natural, the same rules of traditional balayage is applied. Highlights are subtly introduced around 3cms from roots . The face-framing strands are brightened to add an illuminating effect to skin, and the ends are left natural.
The technique blew up over lockdown thanks to the longevity it offered. Rather than a block all-over colour the highlights mean root-regrowth becomes less of an issue. But what may have started out of necessity, has established itself as a growing trend. “Many women don’t want to go for block coverage anymore, and we’ve embraced they are looking for different ways to take care of their grey hair, ” says Robert who works out of his family’s hairdressing business in Leeds.
