Councillors were asked if they wanted to donate to help workers struggling to pay their bills. GMB convenor Chris Mitchell decided to host several events over the last few weeks at each of the cleansing depots

More than £1500 has been donated to a charity buffet for Glasgow cleansing staff struggling to cope with the cost of living crisis.

He also thanked members of the SNP, Green and Labour parties for their donations which contributed towards covering the cost of the buffet which was well received by members of the GMB - particularly those who struggle to feed themselves and their families or pay their bills. Mr Mitchell said: “Following the year we have had with the cost of living crisis, I went to the councillors and asked them to donate some money so we could host a buffet for our workers.
