Police confirmed a 74-year-old man had died after being struck by a single-decker bus in the city's Cowgate on Saturday night.
The owner of Edinburgh 's Liquid Rooms has shut down sick social media rumours that he was the victim of a fatal incident in the Cowgate. John 'Mick' Mcwilliams shared a video to quash local rumours spread by online trolls and confirm he had not died in the tragedy. It comes after police confirmed a 74-year-old man passed away after being struck by a bus in the city's Cowgate on Saturday night.
Halloween revellers were locked in bars as the area was shut down. Some bars and nightclubs within the cordon were also ordered to close for the evening. Katie McLaughlin, of Dumfries , told how she and pals in Bannerman's Bar had to leave via a back entrance as police ordered the pub to be closed. Speaking at the time, she said: 'We were in Bannermans having a drink and went to leave but a member of the staff stopped us.
