Nightingale hospitals in Manchester, Sunderland & Harrogate have been asked “to mobilise” in coming weeks, says NHS England's medical director Steve Powis There will be regular testing for NHS staff in high-risk areas “even when they don’t have symptoms”

Prof Steve Powis delivered some of the latest data on the virusWe've been hearing from the government's scientific and medical advisers about the latest coronavirus data. Here's what we learned:

It's"wishful thinking" that elderly people can somehow be"fenced off" from the risk of the virus, NHS England's medical director Prof Steve Powis said. There are already steep rises in the number of over-65s - and particularly over-85s - being admitted to hospital

We’re ready and waiting to take bookings for NightingaleYH workers. Harrogate lifestyle apartments are opposite the site. There is a fully equipped kitchen in each of our apartments! The perfect home from home for our hero’s!

Hide the deaths in Nightingale hospitals & Edinburgh NHS managed to kill 5 patients in 1 tiny ward at weekend ...

But but but Manchester wants to keep drugging, drinking, & eating shite but F..k their own people because 🤑🤑🤑 Bet they didnt help in WW2 either ...

They wernt even usee on the first wave and the death rate is much lower now so why are the government getting them on alert. Just more scare mongering.

Were they ever used? Mobilise 😂

Who is going to staff the nightingale hospitals, has the government got a Dr tree, a nurse tree, a porter tree, a hca tree and an admin staff tree that sits with their magic money tree?

Context: At peak in April, critical care beds in Leeds Hospitals were at 10% capacity! Harrogate Nightingale serves Yorkshire and the Humber, so assume their critical care provision was also at 10% capacity They were never going to be used at peak, so won't be required now!

This was always Cummings plan for the second wave. No shutting down of economy, let the virus run and use nightingale to deal with the fatalities. And I deliberately say Cummings, rather than Boris. Because Cummings is running the country now.

Floor 5 of Sunderland NHS hospital was converted at a cost of millions for C19 and now stands empty if not de-constructed. Why the lies? People need to wake up.

What, like last time? Come back when you fill the 100,000 plus job vacancies in the health care sector. Until then, they can't staff the Nightingales. They are a white elephant and this evil govt knows it.

Mobilize? So NHS staff have been asked to put themselves yet again in the front line to care for the selfish, drunken, ruthless non-believers of this virus..... I'd say, let them perish!

Mobilise even though hospital cases aren't rising fast

There is no 'magic bullet', that will completely eradicate corona virus from the country, we have to learn to live with the virus in our communities, & use where possible, local lockdowns to mitigate the spread, going into another national lockdown, right now, is unnecessary

Harrogate didn’t have a single admission in the last peak and has sat empty! This is just going to happen again.

FACT CHECK: NOT TRUE we are about 5.7:1 lower than March or April according to NHS. Who's lying?

We took our son back to uni in Manchester 3 weeks ago. Stayed in Beetham Tower and could clearly see the security and comings and goings in Nightingale hospital. That place has already been made ready because our kids are a government experiment in herd immunity.

More total bullshit propaganda. A virus so fkn dangerous you need to be tested using a 90% inaccurate system (as admitted by the inventor) otherwise you'd never know AS THERE ARE LIKELY ZERO SYMPTOMS. Ie, you're not sick. It can also differentiate between work & pubs! Pathetic

The bigger question is why nightingale hospitals aren't having these patients anyway rather than in general hospitals.

Are teachers going to get tested too

The govt need to keep the narrative going. I am pretty sure we will see some people in their this time, the govt will want to prove a point and get some video footage for propaganda.

bbclaurak

Eh? Our local NHS has 5 month waiting lists for minor investigative procedures. Why aren’t the Nightingale hospitals being used already? And don’t say staffing levels because where are staff being conjured up from to man them now?

why were personal going into a workplace with symptoms isn't this against government advice?

Nice to see Oliver Dowden on 1pm news sporting his very nice tan ,anyone know where he’s been, so glad he the time😳,meanwhile in la la land my phone still won’t download the world beating track and trace, any idea how many actually could?in end ?

F A K E N E W S

Wouldn’t it have made sense to use these extra hospitals before now?

Just lie after lie

I know the one in Harrogate has never been used and probably won’t

Whydon’t they just take every case of covid there instead of making local hospitals breeding grounds for it . Is it really too simple or has Boris an agenda to keep killing people off 😡👎

Mobilise the Nightingales to deal with the insane backlog of routine operations people are waiting for!

Just as well we have the pandemic under control with our world class track & trace program that has cost us, and continues to cost us billions of taxpayers money. Only had 6 months to get it right too.. it's amazing how we've managed it and are putting other nations to shame.

bottleofclaret 😴

I take it they don't need to wear masks?

Stop 👏 getting 👏 tested 👏

What does “told to mobilise” actually mean? I understand the why.

Fucking mobilise? Why wasn't the covid patients sent straight to the Nightingale hospitals first? So the hospitals could run as normal! Greatest scam ever pulled on the public. The elites and bankers have bled the working class dry again for a financial reset. Criminal elite🤬

The Birmingham nightingale was told to reopen within 48hrs in Sept when Birmingham was put in lockdown, was never used once during the pandemic and guess what, still going unused. I'm sick of misleading misrepresentation of data by these scaremongering 'special advisers'.

More scaremongering

It beggars belief that these so called specialist think that repeating what was done before will garner a different outcome. Lockdowns lead to more cases as proven by the data and this will continue for years as there will be no vaccine, are people willing for this to continue?

bbclaurak Please explain how closing pubs is going to help? And then everyone, mp's and media just stop lying to us.

Lockdowns don't work. Common sense and the data says protect the vulnerable elderly with special measures. The rest of us don't need any of this.

This was very clear and very useful. This was the information people were apparently shouting for. The fact that some of them want to rubbish it now or demonstrate their own inability to understand it, seems to suit their own purposes more than the reality.

FYW, do these hospitals have staff ? Anyone thought of that ?

bbclaurak Why not get an expert view on how we staffing nightingales from someone specialised in workforce issues, the NHS Chief People officer perhaps? Prerana_Issar

AbbeyCaoimhe

Not testing me if i dnt have symptoms

Please BBCnews ask where are the Health Care Professionals coming from to staff these huge spaces there are 196 nursing vacancies in Harrogate in a population of 93,576!

bbclaurak Any idea why Liverpool didn’t get a Nightingale? What is the contingency plan should it continue to go tits up on Merseyside?

Take the students positive tests out of the equation, (send them home) and the R rate will come down!!!

bbclaurak But for what benefit. Do they have ventilators? Do they have operating theatres? Is there a sufficient number of doctors and nurses to staff them?

bbclaurak Mobilise in the coming weeks? Get the Nightingale Hospitals open now! If it is a lack of bodies, bring in the army to help out to get these Nightingale open ASAP! I don't understand why we don't implement COVID strategies immediately!

bbclaurak Why test staff when they don't have symptoms? Oh I know, so they can add a few more false positives to the tally

There has exponential rise in cases in last month. The gradient of deaths is much shallower it is not following same rate.

Where are the staff for the Nightingale 'hospitals' coming from? You know, just wondering as there aren't enough NHS staff to properly staff the regular hospitals.

Mobilise for what? Just testing?

BBCPolitics More propaganda I see......

Government have failed miserably.

bbc5live Colours can be misleading. Who chose 500+/100k as being 'hot'? That's one in 200 people. Who lumped 60+ together (1 person in 500 in that group). Why not break that down if older people are more vulnerable.

And then be left unused again!

BBCPolitics Time to get real with questions BBCFergusWalsh .They have had 6 months to plan for second wave, yet within a week we get the scare tactics of NHS being overwhelmed! So what have they done to prepare for this? Nothing. Time all journalists started to call out these COVIDIOTS

CCCDV - How does this relate to schools where there are closed environments, close contact, 30ppl crowded into a room, for 7 hrs duration with the significant amount of noise and talking that chn produce? Where is the concern for schs, sch chn and teachers?

Why are they still trying to compare case data from March to Now, we test 250k+ per day now to less than 50k back in Apr/May. They cannot state cases are rising because they can't compare like for like.

bbclaurak wow, telling us right on time ahead of the announcements today. you really must think the UK people are mugs. We're not - the hospitality industry and the KBF team alone are taking the govt to court this week. This hysteria and wanton economic destruction is ending.....

Possibly as hospitals are the source of infection for many. All the Nightingale hospitals should be opened and used for Covid patients. Keep them away from general hospitals.
