A new Member of Parliament is being elected for the Cheshire constituency which includes the areas of Alsager, Brereton Rural, Congleton East, Congleton West, Dane Valley, Middlewich, Odd Rode, Sandbach Elworth, Sandbach Ettiley Heath and Wheelock, Sandbach Heath and East, and Sandbach Town.
Ahead of the election, the sitting MP was Conservative Fiona Brice, who has represented the constituency in the House of Commons since 2010.The shock summer general election was called by Rishi Sunak on May 22, with elections taking place in all 650 seats across the UK. Since the 2019 general election major boundary changes affecting 90% of Parliamentary constituencies have come into force.Polls closed in the general election 2024 at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, with counts taking place overnight.
