Jonathan Goodwin has revealed he offered fiancée Amanda Abbington a way out of their 'love story' relationship after he was paralysed from the waist down when a TV stunt went horribly wrong.

Jonathan Goodwin has officially sued NBC two years after suffering a 'catastrophic' and 'life-altering' accident that left him paralyzed during a rehearsal for AGT: Extreme in October 2021.

On October 14, 2021, Goodwin had been rehearsing a stunt at the Atlanta Motor Speedway where he was suspended in the air upside-down in a straightjacket, and had to escape before being crushed by two vehicles. Jonathan claimed in the lawsuit that he suffered a number of different injuries, including a dislocated spinal cord, the loss of a kidney, third degree burns, as well as fractured ribs and legs. He also became paralyzed from the waist down.

'I don't really have a great memory...I know that there was a moment where I knew it was going wrong,' he recalled. At the time, he had been engaged for only one month to actress, Amanda Abbington, and revealed that he had told her to leave him. 'Obviously there are lots of things that I have lost, but I'm not concentrating on that - for me, it was about creating a spectacle for an audience, showing people things that they'd never seen before.'

Gone 'wrong': 'I don't really have a great memory...I know that there was a moment where I knew it was going wrong,' he recalled to Good Morning America Amanda notably was in a relationship from 2000 to 2016 with actor Martin Freeman and the pair share two children.
