Chinese automaker Chery is expanding its 2025 lineup with the launch of the Tiggo 9 C-DM, a new plug-in hybrid model.For the 2025 model year, the Chinese automaker is giving its Tiggo 9 lineup a subtle refresh, adding more powertrain choices and limited “early bird” pricing during China ’s National Day holiday in October.
The update focuses on minor configuration changes rather than a full redesign, preserving the SUV’s familiar appearance and overall feel. The Tiggo 9 retains its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 192 kW and 400 Nm of torque. Depending on the trim level, buyers can choose between a seven-speed dual-clutch or an eight-speed automatic transmission, providing a straightforward set of options while maintaining the model’s established and dependable character.Tiggo 9 C-DM features larger battery and stronger outputThe Tiggo 9 lineup is expanded with five trims for 2025, including the new mid-range Yaoxiang edition. This version replaces the outgoing Zunxiang trim and adds CDC adaptive suspension, a smart Bluetooth key, a 12-speaker audio system, and an exclusive twilight purple interior option.Joining the family as the plug-in hybrid choice, the Tiggo 9 C-DM keeps the same exterior styling as the standard model but features a larger 19.43-kWh ternary lithium battery. Its Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM system pairs a 1.5-liter turbo hybrid engine with a front-mounted electric motor and a 3-speed DHT. The engine delivers 154 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, while the motor provides 221 horsepower and 288 pound-feet.The Tiggo 9 C-DM can go from 0 to 62 mph in 8.8 seconds and delivers a CLTC-rated all-electric range of 66 miles. On a full tank and fully charged battery, it achieves a WLTC combined range of more than 870 miles. Using fast charging, the battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes, while a full charge with standard charging takes about 3.5 hours.New Tiggo 9X features shorter wheelbase and design tweaksThe Tiggo 9X builds on the Tiggo 9 platform but comes with a slightly shorter wheelbase, reduced by 50 mm, and several design updates. At the front, the bumper has been redesigned, now featuring separate air intakes instead of the previous full-width lower grille. The rear has also been refreshed with updated taillights and revised bumper details, giving the model a more distinct and modern appearance.Under the hood, the Tiggo 9X features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine generating 187 kW and 390 Nm, slightly less than the standard Tiggo 9. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive offered on higher trims.Furthermore, top-level trims come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255 cockpit chip and the Falcon 500 driver assistance system, providing features like highway NOA, memory driving, and enhanced parking assistance.
