ORRVILLE, Ohio - The Orrville Police Department is investigating a text message threat to the middle school on Wednesday morning. According to the release, police do not believe there is a credible threat, but are taking the matter seriously and actively investigating.
The police department reminded the community that anyone who sends threatening text messages or posts threats will be identified, pursued, and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. The post also shared the following tips on what do if you recieve a threatening message by text message, social media, or any online platform:Save all evidence and do not delete itContact local law enforcement if you feel unsafe or threatenedThe Orrville Police Department said do not forward, repost, or continue sharing threatening messages.
“While it may seem helpful, spreading the message can hinder investigations and make it more difficult to trace the original sender,” the post said.
