Ohio is launching a new statewide public dashboard to track student attendance.
It will be updated weekly so chronic absenteeism trends can be viewed across the state, and even down to the district, school building, or grade level. The Statewide Attendance Dashboard was created “to track will provide an unprecedented level of speed and transparency in tracking student attendance across the state,” Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s office stated. The governor and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin are holding a press conference to launch the public tool at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
“During his recent State of the State Address, Governor DeWine highlighted that more than 25% of Ohio students were chronically absent last year, underscoring the need for stronger community-wide action to keep students in school. The new dashboard will help schools, families, and local leaders identify attendance challenges earlier and support proactive strategies to ensure more students are present and learning.”
