SINGAPORE — A 27-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly extorting a man who had procured her escort services, the police said on Tuesday (March 7).

The woman had purportedly told the man that she would report him to the police if he failed to give her S$15,000, the police said in a statement, adding that the man had filed a report on Sunday night.Through ground enquiries and with the aid of police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested her within 19 hours of the report being filed.

The woman is also believed to be involved in three other similar reported cases involving a total sum of at least S$19,000, the police said.Those convicted of extortion will be jailed for not less than two years and not more than seven years, with caning.
