The sight of Captain Marvel bringing the stricken Iron Man and Nebula back from deepest space down to Earth was one of many standout moments in Avengers: Endgame.
Which is why it was such a disappointment that audiences didn’t get to see even more of Brie Larson’s character in the blockbuster. Endgame’s writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have now revealed exactly why the superhero was mostly absent from the film, admitting that they weren’t quite sure how to approach Captain Marvel as she was so new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe."Well, she was always going to be in it but we didn't have much to go on. They had cast her and that was it.
“So, we had to decide on a balance between not making it feel like a cameo but not having her around so much that she solved all of the problems for everybody.” For McFeely it wouldn’t have made sense to overly focus on Captain Marvel, as the purpose of Avengers; Endgame was to celebrate the original members of the superhero posse."It also wasn't the point of the movie, the point of the second movie was saying goodbye to the original six Avengers, so their stories were gonna be way up here. It was not fair to the other six Avengers to have Captain Marvel come in and solve all their problems, it didn't seem like good storytelling.
