, Netflix’s hit South Korean drama about a reel-life survival tournament, is now a real-life competition series., which the streaming service promises will be “the biggest reality competition series ever”, with the largest cast and cash prize in reality TV history. Like the award-winning Korean drama, 456 players will compete for US$4.56 million .

Bela Bajaria, Netflix's head of global TV, broke the news at the Banff World Media Festival on Tuesday . Contestants will go through a series of challenges inspired by the original show, plus new additions. To beat them, players have to get creative by forming strategies and alliances. Most importantly, how ruthless will they go to win?

While the stakes are high, losers will not be, ahem, eliminated in cold blood — they just go home empty-handed. Casting for the series is currently open to English-language speakers from anywhere in the world. The 10-episode competition series will be filmed in the UK.
