WASHINGTON - The United States aims to raise US$200 billion in private and public funds over five years to fund needed infrastructure in developing countries under a G-7 initiative aimed at counteri

ng China's multitrillion-dollar Belt and Road project, the White House said on Sunday .

Mr Biden will unveil several specific projects at a G-7 side event, joined by leaders from Britain, Germany, Japan, the European Union and Canada, vowing to focus on projects that help tackle climate change as well as improve global health, gender equity and digital infrastructure. The funds would be raised through grants and federal funds, and by leveraging private-sector investments, the White House said, adding that hundreds of billions of additional dollars could come from multilateral development banks, development finance institutions, sovereign wealth funds and others.

'Aim to raise' indeed ! All charity begin at home. Biden should look at his own US backyards first as far as infrastructure is concerned. Why compete when we should all collaborate ? One (fragile) world.

China should compete with G7 countries without wolf warrior demonizing G7 countries.

But Japan is already biggest infra investors.

straits_times I hope this pans out cause competing to see who can do more economically for third world countries is good for all - China and G-7 countries included - but compete with China without demonizing China.
